The things we leave behind…

Are sometimes what makes us grow…

I have left my childhood behind and at the same time saved the memories deep in my heart. The memories of a childhood that turned me into the survivor I am today… A fighter in the sense of seeing rockbottom as a foundation to build a solid life. A foundation that holds up a never ending build of a fortress, a spectacular and limitless building made out of my memories and experiences, a life lived this far…

I have left friends behind in my thirst for new beginnings. Beginnings in new places. New meetings with people that has become friends which, some of them, I have left behind when life has thrown me challenges in the form of new opportunities in new and unexplored territories…

I have left my heart behind, sometimes torn out against my will. I have fougt tearfilled battles where I have lost my hope of a chosen lifecompanion but at the same time come out victorious from the battle of my heart, a heart that has become strong, warm and forgiving…

I have left my life behind in the sense of not being afraid of taking on changes, big changes that sometimes has become challenges. A life that has multiplied into lives, each carrying its own story- like a book with all its chapters…

The things we leave behind… sometimes makes us take a step forward

”Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don´t.

And believe that everything happens for a reason…

If you get a chance- Take it;
If it changes your life- Let it.

Nobody said it would be easy.

But it will be worth it”

Paulo Coelho

  1. I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. Nice post. I wrote about the same topic, but in a different way. I actually used something my son wrote because it seemed to fit.

    1. Thank you Kathy. I agree with you that everything we encounter has a meaning. Maybe not so obvious at the time, but in time we learn to become the interpreter of our lives. The things we leave behind is what shapes us

      1. I agree with you and some instances are clearer than others. A few weeks ago, son and I had to go out to reserve a game for him. I couldn’t do it over the phone. He changed before we rushed out, grabbing a new t-shirt. It turns out because he wore an Air Force shirt, the woman who waited on us, the same one I spoke to one the phone, gave him some pointers about the military – things he would have never know otherwise. Things she would have never told him if he hadn’t worn that shirt and she asked if he was interested in the Air Force. Her comments opened my eyes to what I need to be aware of as his parent and also may have changed my son’s focus for the future. Everything happens for a reason.
